We are Enlazados—San Canessa, JP Granillo, Carol Schrader, and Kemely Gomez—four artists with distinct practices brought together in a shared exploration of creativity. This exhibition invites viewers to witness how individual expression can merge into a collective whole. Through painting, cyanotype, fiber arts, and movement, it highlights how art can connect people across disciplines and experiences while nurturing both individual and collective expression.
At the heart of the exhibition is the Movement Mandala, created through dance, paint and cyanotype. This work traces gestures of movement and reflects the collective body, enlazado for strength and resilience at this specific time of challenges in our community.
The large cyanotypes, or solar photos, also embody movement. We choreographed these pieces by repeatedly melting down onto the fabric until the shapes and connections felt most powerful. They are the evidence of painting with light, weaving with seeds and branches, in motion and at rest simultaneously.
We brought our practices together to engage with youth and the community—nurturing connection through art-making and movement while exploring our different disciplines. The Intention Tapestries are collaborative canvases created with the community, blending collage, paint, and diverse techniques that reflect the spirit of gathering and making together. Emerging from youth workshops and community events, these works show how nurturing artistic expression across generations fosters connection and belonging.
Through this layering of community and collective work, Enlazados becomes a meeting ground—where art nurtures expression, holds space for voices and gestures, and celebrates the power of creativity to bring people together. We stand together as a collective and use art as a conduit to move forward. We have each other to depend on, a spider web of strength.
This project and exhibition was made possible with the support of Art is the Solution, Santa Fe Arts Commission and the Arts & Culture Department.
